Daily Sketch: Family Portrait - 22 Feb 2012

I'm sorry I missed out on yesterday! So for today, I worked extra hard on something a little different. Thought process for this was:

Penguins -> Tourists -> Cameras -> Daguerreotypes -> Rebel teenager

A couple of years ago, I visited my parents and dug through some old photographs of our family on holiday. As I turned the pages, I started noticing a trend: my elder sister who was at that time about 15 years old had a perpertual arms-crossed, pouty emo teen look. It really cracked me up! I've looked through those photos a million times over the years while growing up, but somehow I never noticed that until now in my ripe old age. With old age comes the ability to laugh at teenage emo-ness I guess. Wow I feel old! :p

Anyway, I was trying to capture the feel of an aging photo, similar to an old school daguerreotype. Not sure I totally pulled it off so will have to try again in the future!
