While I've never played Portal (being completely incompetent in first person shooters), I really did enjoy listening to my husband play it because of the characters and dialogue. I sat next to him reading a book or surfing the net while he played it and laugh at the funny dialogue going on, even though I had no idea what was going on in the context of the game at all. I did watch him playing enough though to be familiar with the concept and the look of the game.

A good friend and customer asked me to create a Portal iPad Case for him, he'd already had an idea and vision of what he wanted. As soon as he described it, I could picture it straight away in my head and knew how I'd want to go about this.
The design was for the front to feature a portal and a turret within the portal. On the back, you see the exit portal and the back of the turret. I knew I'd want a somewhat 3D feel to this, so I opted for the turret to be in-set to really look like it's inside the portal. I also decided to embroider the turret so that it would be flat and I would be able to get more details out of it. That being said, I also made sure to stylise the turret design to achieve a more minimalist and neat look.
This was an awesome bespoke experience where the design and construction just clicked into place and everything worked out the way I envisioned in my head from the start. The only thing I changed from draft design to final execution was the waviness of the inside of the portal based on my friend's feedback. And it definitely worked out great to make it more Portal-y!
